ANOTHER estate agents in Whitley Bay has closed down.

The Halifax estate agents in Park View closed this week after company Holloway & Gillespie went into administration.

Staff from the Whitley Bay branch were called to a meeting at the sister branch site in Blyth on Tuesday morning where they were told the devastating news.

All have been made redundant as a result.

Windows of the Park View office have now been covered over while the Halifax sign has also been taken down.

A spokesperson for the Halifax group said: "The Whitley Bay estate agency branch is operated under license by an independent company, Holloway & Gillespie, which has gone into administration.

"The estate agency branch is not owned or operated directly by Halifax.

"As such, all the operating decisions are taken by Holloway & Gillespie Ltd as an independent company.

"This is entirely a matter for them.

"Alternative estate agency facilities are available locally and a helpline for impacted customers is available."

No one from Holloway & Gillespie was available for comment.

Any customer effected by the closure should ring the helpline on 01422 391355.

It now means that three estate agents have pulled out of Whitley Bay in the last month due to the 'credit crunch'.

Last week BHP Adamsons closed their branch in the town, citing the current problems with the housing market and financial constraints.

And before that, Reeds Rains closed its Whitley Bay branch after owners Your Move decided against having one of each estate agents in the various town centres, closing the Your Move branch in North Shields.
